Тема: “врожай мій! … мої стодоли, … ввесь мій достаток .. душі своїй: Душе моя! “ “Безумний! Цієї ж ночі душу твою заберуть у тебе.“ (Луки 12:18-20)
Ми чули нині в Євангелії як то богатий чоловік до себе говорить: врожай мій, мої стодоли, ввесь мій достаток і на кінець каже душе моя. А на кінець чуємо як Бог багачеві перебиває в його розмові зі собою кажучи йому: “Безумний, відберуть від тебе душу твою.“ До богача і до кожного з нас Бог каже: Душа не твоя, а душа вертається до Бога, Сотворителя цієї душі бо душа остаточно належить Богові а не нам.
І першу річ що душа побачить по смерті коли почне летіти до Бога, це саме цей духовний, Божий світ. Вона в одному моменті зрозуміє, що вона до себе не належить, але що вона летить до Бога на зустріч з Господом. І під час того лету душа буде мати надзвичайно болюче роздумування про своє життя: скільки я стратила часу на дрібниці і дурниці, при телевізорі, при комп‘ютері, на різних програмах, різних іграх, не дбаючи про добро своєї душі. Душа також в тому самому часі радітиме тим часом що вона віддала на молитву в церкві і в дома, на поміч ближньому чи в родині чи поза родиною. Може й тому нинішний Апостол до Ефесян якраз дібраний до Євангелії кличе до нас – використовуйте час бо дні лукаві. Використовуйте час на землі.
І тоді під час цієї зустрічі з Годподом Богом душа буде мусіти пояснити про різні аспекти свого життя і один з них напевно буде питання грошей. Так про гроші буде мова. “Що ти душе зробила з грішми що я тобі дав?“ – Бог запитається. І тоді душа не буде могла сказати, “Боже, то я запрацювала ті гроші, то були мої гроші, і я робила собі з ними те що хотіла.“ Не скаже душа так бо буде знати що Господь Ісус її відповість те саме що Пилатові відповів: “Ніякої влади ти б не мав … якщо б тобі не було дано згори“ (див. Ів. 19:10).
І тоді треба буде дати звіт за свою скупість і за свою жертвенність. Господь Бог може тоді сказати: “Що ти душе Моя зробила з Моїми дарами що Я тобі передав? Чи ти роздала свою надвишку тим для яких ці дари були призначені?“ А ми скажемо: “А для кого ці дари були призначені?“ А Господь скаже: “О душе моя, коли ти не мала грошей то знала до кого звертатися – просила в Мене дари. А як Я відповів і дав тобі більше ніж потрібно, то на те дав щоб ти знаючи біду, могла другим в подібній біді помогти, але вже тоді душе ти не молилася до Мене, не питалася Мене, “Господи, куди мені ці гроші передати – кому з потребуючих ці гроші маю передати?“
Треба питатися Господа Бога ще тут на землі на молитві, щоб Бог нам показав кому ми маємо передати дари одержані від Бога. Треба про ті справи молитися.
Тут варто собі пригадати надзвичайне життя св. отця Миколая, якого ми нині празник святкуємо. Він був з богатої родини і ще в молодому віці став сиротою – стратив і тата і маму. Але він зблизився до Бога і почав помагати різним людям, які потребували помочі. Ми знаємо як Миколай в ночі скинув три мішочки золота, щоб помогти татові 3-ох дочок сплатити свої борги, щоб не втратити тих 3-ох дочок, яких мали забрати як частину сплачення боргу. Миколай давав і бідним і на церкву. Подібно як Ісус багато своїх чуд робив скрито, щоб не звертати уваги на Себе, так і св. Миколай помагав бідним приховано так щоб не звертати на себе уваги. Є такий анекдот як одна людина померла і її душа пішла до неба і всюди шукала за св. Миколаєм бо дуже хотіла зустріти свого героя. І не знайшовши його нігде запиталася св. Петра де можна знайти св. отця Миколая. А Петро відповідає: “О, його мало тут в небі побачите, бо він завжди десь там на землі комусь знову помагає!“
Святий отче Миколаю, ти що нераз приходив у сні різним людям щоб направити їх на правельну дорогу, провадь і нас, щоб ми знали як поступати з майном нам переданим тут на землі. Поможи нам щоб ми використовували цей час на землі так як мудрі а не як немудрі.
Theme: “my crops … my barns … my grain and my goods …my soul…
But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you (Luke 12:18-20)
In the Gospel today we heard about a rich man talking to himself: my crops, my barns, my grain and my goods and then finally he says: my soul. There is a link between my wealth and my soul. And at the end we heard how God interrupts the rich man’s conversation with himself by saying: You fool, this night your soul is required of you. God says to the rich man and to each one of us: “Your soul is not yours, but the soul returns to God, the Creator of the soul, because the soul ultimately belongs to God and not to us.”
The first thing that the soul will see after death as it is flying towards God is the spiritual world of God and at that moment the soul will understand that it does not belong to itself, but that she is flying to God its maker, meeting the Lord face to face. And during this flight, the soul will have an extremely painful meditation about her life: How much time I wasted on little trivialities, on foolish things, by the television, by the computer, watching programs, playing games, not caring about the wellbeing of my soul. It is not by accident that in today’s Epistle to the Ephesians, that complements today’s Gospel, we heard these words of exhortation, this cry of St. Paul: make use of your time … not as the unwise, but as the wise; … because the days are evil.(Eph. 5:15-16).
And during this meeting with our Lord God, the soul will have to explain about different aspects of her life and one of these aspects will most certainly be money. Yes, money will be discussed. God will ask a soul what were you doing with the money I gave you? And then the soul will not be able to answer, “God, I worked for that money, it was my money, and I did with it as I pleased.” The soul will not say that because she will know that the Lord Jesus will answer her as He answered Pilate by saying: “You would have no authority … if it was not given to you from above.” (see Jn. 19:10)
And then you will have to give an account for your stinginess and for your generosity. The Lord God may then say, “What have you done, My soul, with My gifts that I have given you? Have you given your surplus to those for whom these gifts were intended? ”And we will say: “And to whom were these gifts intended?” And the Lord will say, “O my soul, when you had no money, you knew to whom to turn to – you asked Me for help. And when I answered and gave you more than you needed, I did so, so that you in turn, knowing the plight of one in need, could help others in similar need. But now you did not pray to Me and did not ask Me, “Lord, where shall I give this money – to whom among the needy shall I give this money?”
We need to ask the Lord God here on earth in prayer that He show us to whom we should pass on the gifts that we received from Him. We need to pray about these matters.
Here it is worth remembering the extraordinary life of St. Nicholas, whose Feast we celebrate today. He came from a wealthy family and became an orphan at a young age losing both his father and mother. But he grew close to God and began to help various people who needed help. We know how Nicholas dropped three bags of gold at night to help the father of 3 daughters pay his debts so as not to lose those 3 daughters who were to be taken away as payment for the debt. Nicholas gave to the poor and to the church. Just as Jesus performed many of his miracles in secret so as not to draw attention to Himself, so St. Nicholas helped the poor in a hidden way so as not to attract attention to himself.
There is an amusing story about a person who died and went to heaven and searched everywhere for St. Nicholas because he really wanted to meet his hero. And not finding him anywhere, the person asked St Peter, “Where can I find St. Nicholas.” And St Peter answered: “Oh, you will not see much of him here in heaven, because he is always somewhere on earth helping someone again!”
Holy Father Nicholas, you have often come in dreams to different people to steer them back on the right path, guide us so that we know how to deal with the gifts that have been given to us here on earth. Help us that we may use this time on earth as wise stewards and not as foolish ones.
