Римлян 15:1-7 Матея 9:27-35
Тема: Святе Письмо було написане для нас, щоб ми краще пізнали Бога
“Все бо, що було написане давніше, написане нам на науку, щоб ми мали надію через терпеливість й утіху, про які нас Письмо навчає.“ (Римлян 15:4)
Св. Павло закінчує свій лист до Римлян заохочуючи їх читати Св. Письмо. В той час коли Св. Павло писав цей лист, він мав на увазі книги Старого Завіту, бо ще тоді не було зложено Нового Завіту. Книги Нового Завіту щойно писалися.
Наш Блаженніший Святослав почав проект “Живої Парафії“ і представив план як кожна парафія може стати більш живою. На самому початку Блаженніший звернув увагу на те, щоб миряни почали читати Святе Письмо вдома.
Пояснює св. Павло чому потрібно нам, християнам, читати св. Письмо, а саме тому щоб ми краще Бога зрозуміли. Св. Письмо також багато описує відношення людини до Бога: як Бог хоче зблизити людину, родину або народ до Себе і як інколи людина, родина або народ відповідає на цей заклик позитивно і як в інших випадках відповідає негативно.
Подібно як Ісус Месія відкрив очі двом сліпцям і дав їм змогу побачити світ перед собою, подібно Святе Письмо відкриває нам духовні очі, щоб ми краще могли зрозуміти Божу волю і Божі дороги. Св. Письмо може нам дати нові духовні очі, щоб ми почали краще бачити Божий палець в нашому житті.
Хочемо навести приклад науки про Бога і людину в Старому Завіті. В 1-ій книзі Старого Завіту, в Книзі Буття, ми читаємо як Бог вибрав собі одного чоловіка на ім‘я Авраам, який жив в Халдеї далеко від Ханаану-Палестини. Коли Бог йому сказав, щоб він перенісся до обіцяної землі, яку йому Бог обіцяв, то Авраам послухав Бога і пішов найпростішою дорогою і оселився в Ханаан краю. Авраам мав велике довір‘я до Бога і вірив що Бог знає що Він робить. Тому Авраам був послушний Божому слові.
Від 2-ої до до 5-ої книги Старого Завіту, книги Виходу, Левіт, Чисел і Второзаконня, ми читаємо про Мойсея який вивів ізраїльський народ з Єгипту і старався цей народ запровадити до тої самої обіцяної землі – Ханаан край. Лише тут було менше довір‘я до Бога і тому цей народ не йшов безпоседньою дорогою до наміченої землі, а властиво постійно зходив з дороги Божої і тому так довго йшов до цієї землі – 40 років. Ізраїльтяни, під час тих 40 років, навіть вже були при самій границі Ханаану і послали своїх шпигунів щоб вивідати як виглядають справи. Не маючи довір‘я до Бога, вони побоялися ввійти і вибороти для себе обіцяну землю. За кару за їхній брак довір‘я, вони блукали по пустині 40 років і всі, за виїмком двох, не увійшли до обіцяної землі. Всі повмирали в пустині. Отже кінчається 5-та книга Второзаконня тим, що Мойсей вмирає не ввійшовши до обіцяної землі, а ізраїльський народ стоїть перед рікою Йордан. Бог вибирає їм нового провідника Ісуса Навина і цей розбуджує в народі довір‘я до Бога і запевняє їх що вони зможуть увійти в Ханаан край як це зробив колись Авраам. І в 6-ій книзі, яка називається “Ісус Навин“, ми читаємо як священники носячи святий ковчег, тобто престіл Божий, стали при березі Йордану. І знову чудо води повторилося як це було на початку з Червоним Морем. Йордан розділився на двоє і Ізраїль перейшов по суші до обіцяної землі. Бог деколи відкриває двері, а деколи їх закриває.
І так подібно було з нашою Українською Католицькою Церквою в Україні, яка пробула в підпіллю від 1946 до 1989 років – понад 40 років – і тоді знайшлися відважні люди Української Католицької Церкви, між іншим багато з них були жінки, які вийшли з підпілля і заявили, “Ми є тут. Ми існуємо. Ми вимагаємо визнання Української Католицької Церкви.“ Це був початок розпаду Совєтського Союзу. І що цікаве – за короткий час наша Українська Католицька Церква перейшла свій Йордан, ріку Збруч, і почала діяти по всій Україні. І подібно як пізніше ізраїльський народ збудував святиню в Єрусалимі, так наша Церква збудувала Собор Воскресіння в Києві, новий центр Української Католицької Церкви, постійне перебування Глави нашої Церкви.
Бог діяв в Старому Завіті відчиняючи двері і Бог діяв на наших землях відчиняючи широко двері для діяльності нашої церкви по всій Україні. Ми віримо що Бог буде і надалі супроводжати нашу Церкву в цей важкий, страшний час і що наша Церква і наша держава в кінці встане з тих руїн і відбудує свою державу і свою Церкву на дуже твердому, новому фундаменті. Так нам Господи Боже всемогучий допоможи в Тройці Святій і нероздільній.

Romans 15:1-7 Matthew 9:27-35
Title: The Holy Scriptures were written for us to get to know God.
For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope. (Romans 15: 4)
St. Paul ends his letter to the Romans by encouraging them to read the Holy Scriptures. At that time when St. Paul wrote his letter, he had in mind the books of the Old Testament, because the New Testament had not yet been assembled. The books of the New Testament were being written. Our Beatitude Sviatoslav started a project for our Church called “The Vibrant Parish” and presented a plan as to how each parish can become more vibrant. At the very beginning, His Beatitude emphasized how the laity have to begin to read the Bible at home.
St. Paul explains that we, Christians, need to read Holy Scriptures, so that we can better understand God. Holy Scriptures also describe much about man’s relationship with God: how God wants to draw a person, family or nation closer to Himself and how sometimes a person, family or nation responds to this call positively and how in other cases it responds negatively.
Just as Jesus the Messiah opened the eyes of two blind men and enabled them to see the world before them, so the Holy Scriptures open our spiritual eyes so that we can better understand God’s will and God’s ways. The Holy Scriptures can give us new spiritual eyes so that we can begin to better see God’s hand in our lives.
We would like to give an example of a teaching about God and man in the Old Testament. In the 1st book of the Old Testament, the Book of Genesis, we read how God chose a man called Abraham, who lived in Chaldea far from Canaan-Palestine. When God told him to move to the promised land, which God promised him, Abraham listened to God and took the most direct path to Canaam and settled there. Abraham had great trust in God and believed that God knew what He was doing. Therefore, Abraham was obedient to God’s word.
From the 2nd to the 5th book of the Old Testament, the books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers and Deuteronomy, we read about Moses who led the people of Israel out of Egypt and tried to lead this people to that same promised land – the land of Canaan. Only here there was less trust in God, and that is why this people did not take the most direct route to the Promised Land, but constantly strayed from the path of God which is why it took them so long to get to that land – 40 years. The Israelites, during those 40 years, were at one point at the very border of Canaan and sent their spies to find out how things looked. Because they did not trust God, they were afraid to enter and claim the Promised Land for themselves. As punishment for their lack of trust, they wandered in the desert for 40 years and all of them (except two) did not enter the Promised Land. All died in the desert. Thus, the 5th Book of Deuteronomy ends with Moses being dead, and the people of Israel stand before the Jordan River. God chooses for them a new leader, Joshua, who awakens the people’s trust in God and assures them that they will be able to enter the land of Canaan, as Abraham once did. And in the 6th book, called “Joshua”, we read how the priests, carrying the holy ark, that is the throne of God, stood at the bank of the Jordan. And once again the miracle of water was repeated as it had at the beginning with the Red Sea. The Jordan split in two and Israel crossed on dry land to the promised land. God sometimes opens doors and sometimes closes them.
And so it was with our Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ukraine, which was forced underground from 1946 to 1989 – more than 40 years – and then there were brave people of the Ukrainian Catholic Church, many among them were women, who came out of the underground and declared, “We are here. We exist. We demand to be recognized as the Ukrainian Catholic Church.” This was the beginning of the collapse of the Soviet Union. And what is interesting – a short time after, our Ukrainian Catholic Church crossed its Jordan, the river Zbruch, and began to work throughout Ukraine. And just as the israelites later built a Temple in Jerusalem, so our Church built the Sobor of the Holy Resurrection in Kyiv, the new center of the Ukrainian Catholic Church, the permanent residence of the Head of our Church.
God acted in the Old Testament, opening doors, and God acted in our lands, opening the doors wide open for our church to work throughout Ukraine. We believe that God will continue to accompany our Church in this difficult, horrific time and that our Church and our country Ukraine will rise from those ruins and will rebuild the country and its Church on a very solid, new foundation. So help us God Almighty, One in the Holy and Undivided Trinity.
